Tunes & Spoons Chili Cook-Off Music Festival

Every summer, the heart of Claremore pulses with the sizzle of simmering pots, the roar of classic engines, and the groove of live music at the Tunes & Spoons Chili Cook-Off Music Festival. This unique, three-day celebration has quickly become one of Oklahoma’s most exciting events — a blend of culinary competition and musical entertainment wrapped in community spirit and purpose.

Founded with a vision of bringing people together through food and sound, Tunes & Spoons isn’t just about great chili and live bands — it’s about giving back. With roots in community healing and music education, the festival supports Music Giving Hope, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering creativity, resilience, and connection through music.

What Makes Tunes & Spoons Special

At its core, Tunes & Spoons is a celebration of two great American traditions — hearty chili and live music. But it goes deeper than that

The “Tunes” — Live Music All Weekend

From local favorites to national headliners, the festival offers a diverse lineup across multiple stages. Past performances have featured Grammy-winning country legends Diamond Rio, blues-rock icons George Thorogood & The Destroyers, and vibrant sets from bands like Superfreak and My So Called Band. With genres ranging from country and rock to funk and tribute classics, there’s truly something for every music lover.

While admission to concerts is free, festival-goers also have the option to purchase VIP passes for premium viewing areas and special amenities — with proceeds directly supporting Music Giving Hope.

The “Spoons” — Chili Cook-Off & Flavor Fest

The chili competition at Tunes & Spoons is more than just tasting — it’s competitive arts and culinary mastery. Sanctioned by the International Chili Society, one of the premier organizations for chili cook-offs in the country, participants vie for top honors, cash prizes, and the chance to qualify for larger national championships.

Attendees can stroll rows of chili booths, try bold and unique recipes, vote for their favorites, and even compete themselves. Fun additions like pepper-eating contests and salsa tastings keep the experience lively for all ages.

Classic Cars, Family Fun, Local Makers & More

Tunes & Spoons is also a festival of experiences beyondT taste and tunes:

Classic Car Show: Admire rows of vintage cars, customs, hot rods, and even vehicles from Tito Jackson’s personal collection. Car buffs can enjoy the chrome and craftsmanship up close.

Family Fun Zone: Games, activities, and entertainment for kids keep the weekend exciting for families.

Artisan Market & Vendor Alley: Shop handmade goods, crafts, and local offerings from makers and small businesses.

This mix of entertainment positions Tunes & Spoons as both a community tradition and a regional attraction.

A Festival With Heart

More than just a gathering, Tunes & Spoons honors the legacy of Tito Jackson, who helped co-found Music Giving Hope and envisioned the festival as a way to lift community spirits following the 2024 tornado damage in Claremore. After his passing, his family and partners continued his mission, making the festival a heartfelt tribute to unity, resilience, and generosity.

Money raised through VIP tickets, sponsorships, and festival activities supports Music Giving Hope’s mission to expand access to music education, inspire community engagement, and create healing opportunities — where music itself becomes a force for good.
